Angie and Nathan have a love that overflows with fun and joy. They are deeply connected to their roots and made sure to include traditions and details that truly resonated with them, including a traditional Tea Ceremony for Nathan’s Chinese Heritage, the Duk for Angie’s Korean Heritage, and the gorgeous leis that represented Angie’s tie to Hawaii. Their wedding day was full of smiles, happy memories and beautiful details!
Angie and Nathan envisioned a simple and elegant wedding with modern details. Starting with a ginko leaf we designed stationery and Luxecut® details that brought a modern edge to the elegant space. The color palette of soft whites and greens continued the effortless elegance and helped bring everything together.
From the gingko leaf escort cards (that Angie DIY’ed) to the concrete vase centerpieces overflowing with soft flowers, every detail had it’s own classic and modern flair that was perfect for Angie and Nathan’s unique style!

Megan and Derek had a modern affair that truly brought out a full spectrum of emotion. You can see the love, excitement, joy, and care on their faces. Megan’s getting ready photos alone tell the entire story of love, laughter and commitment – we had a rare First Look between Father and Daughter that was so amazingly wonderful. Just wait until you see the rest!
Last but not least, their wonderful Wedding Video short!
We worked closely with Megan & Derek to create a sophisticated and modern cocktail affair. Starting with a palette of whites, ivories, and a splash of gold we were able to create a foundation that showcased the beautiful metallics, simple tulips and centerpieces of fire and candles. The elegant wedding ceremony was swapped out for a joyful cocktail party. Lounge furniture was brought in to create VIP seating for the ceremony, fun seating for the reception and added a flare unique to Megan and Derek’s wedding!

Natasha and Stetson have a love story filled with family and strong cultural heritage. They are a truly modern couple that is deeply rooted in their family traditions. Every detail reminds one of their enduring commitment to family and staying contemporary to let the love and merriment shine through!
We worked with Natasha and Stetson to help create a perfectly plaid soiree that intricately illustrated the joining of their families. The primary elements were their Irish family tartan that was paired with a custom monogram that truly married their heritage together. The monogram featured a wheat ring, representing Natasha’s Maldovian heritage, that surround a modern twist on the Irish Crest and Crown, symbolizing Stetson’s heritage.
We worked tirelessly to make sure every detail was cohesive, really bringing their family focused modern celebration together. From the bridesmaid dresses to the lovingly designed floral center pieces (such talented family members!), and the expertly crafted stationery, everything blended together cohesively.

Sometimes you have to make lemonade out of lemons… and sometimes that lemonade blows your mind! Check out this gorgeous budget-friendly wedding. Stevie and Blake found themselves in a predicament, planning their wedding AND finding a cottage to call home.
They were already in contract with their venue and had to make tough decisions, which lead to them halving their wedding budget so they could buy their cottage. Willing to invest in their family and friends for LOTS of DIY, they stretched their budget far!
Fun Fact: You might recognize our Bride Stevie Scott from her Season 5 participation on American Idol in the Top 24!
Stevie and Blake wanted to incorporate a vintage feel with a flair for the wonderful. Together with their talented friends and family, they crafted many of the gorgeous details (a list of the DIY projects is below).
Kate Miller Events was able to help them the design the event of their dreams within their budget, creating many of the paper elements. Their event was bound together with fun pops of lemon yellow and oodles of love.

What happens when a Captain meets a beautiful woman in the Windy City? They get married and have a gorgeous love-filled wedding in Sacramento, of course!
Kerri and Nute’s Wedding was designed around their love story, incorporating travel and vintage treasures with personalized touches. Kerri even hand-bound the menu photo books for each table. The sophisticated color palate of buttercream and navy helped tie in the dress blues, worn by the wedding party. The vintage touches gathered by Kerri, told the story of the couple’s travels, their love of music and happenstance meeting (we call it kismet). Everything worked together wonderfully, bringing out the elements of a classic love story!

I pretty much stalk the Zara website on a weekly, if not daily, basis. It’s the place to go for inexpensive basics, as well as moderately priced, but well-made on-trend pieces. Most especially, the shoes – IF you can get your hands on them, before they sell out.
With that said, I realize that most of my Fab Finds are pretty pricey – therefore, I wanted to do a post chock-full of affordable shoe finds, courtesy of my beloved Zara. Of course, there are many more options than what are shown here – it was quite tough to pare this list down to a bloggable level! See the above leg-lengthenting nude Wide Heel Slingback with Stone? Those are totally Bridal-worthy!
Mint is HOT right now – in fact, all pastels are pretty much in high demand. I love this t-strap Mint Platform Sandal – and I think it would be swoon-worthy at any Style Me Pretty-esque affair!
As you can see, I love a nude shoe – they continue the length of the leg and create a long and flattering silhouette. These platform peep-toe Lace Slingbacks are elevated by the large-scale sheer lace. So pretty!
For the ladies who like to get down on the dancefloor, a lower shoe might be on your shopping list. My first find is this Jewel Vamp, with it’s clear strap studded with jewels for a little unexpected sparkle. I might have to have this shoe myself!
These laser-cut leather lattice Patent Ballerinas come in both Silver and Gold – and I just adore the little velvet bow! These work perfectly for a glam Bride wanting a touch of metallic on her toes – and the velvet bow works for a black tie setting.
Last but not least, for the Bride who loves her bling, these Basic Ballerina with Diamante flats are perfect to slip into at the reception to be ready to rock! Lots of sparkle AND lots of comfort!
What’s your Zara shoe style?

Steven proposed to Lisa at the top of a waterfall, while hiking in Yosemite. Therefore, they couldn’t imagine a better place to celebrate their marriage than to head back to Yosemite, surrounded by the some of the most incredible scenery available in Northern California! Steven and Lisa had a rustic chic wedding with saturated jewel tones and peppered with a fun Ikat print. The Ahwahnee Hotel was a perfect setting for their joyful affair.
Lisa worked closely with us to design her perfect wedding. We combined the rustic atmosphere of the Ahwahnee, Lisa’s love of interior design, and a jewel-toned color palate in an Ikat pattern. The use of the Ikat pattern in many of the details created a modern and cohesive thread bringing the vision together, through the custom menus and programs, to the fabric accents on the vases and escort card table runner. Lisa personalized each place setting by making hand sewn rosettes, painstakingly cut by her groom Steven.
Lisa was able to bring nature in with the commissioned walnut stationery escort cards and table numbers by Luxecut™. She intends to use the table numbers as birthday cake toppers for their future children. Such a great way to remember such a happy day and be eco-friendly! A calligrapher beautifully wrote guests names on the escort cards. The table numbers were laser-cut and incorporated into the mixed height center pieces. Fuchsia peonies, purples anemone, curly willow branches, and moss were crafted into modern center pieces. We loved being part of Steven and Lisa’s Wedding!

Hi! It’s very nice to meet you! I am so excited to be joining Kate Miller Events™ as the newest Special Events Intern!
A little more about me, my name is JoAnna. In the last 10 years I have bounced around Portland, Eureka, Napa, Davis, and the East Bay. Before that I fled my hometown (Eureka) for college on the East Coast (Mount Holyoke). I have found something to love everywhere I go, though I can’t imagine living too far away from the ocean.
Professionally, I have spent most of my time between managing at a home decor retailer and recruiting for various companies, though on paper it doesn’t really scream “events”. For me, it’s all about people, helping and working with them. There is nothing better for me than to see someone truly happy because they got a job, found the perfect gift, or are picking out furniture for their dream home. It truly makes my day to help people enjoy an experience, whatever the experience may be.
Personally, I love to create beautiful spaces, places, and experiences. Now and then I like to whip up a tasty bite – or get crafty and whip out projects on my 100 year old singer. My girlfriend and I have 2 fur-babies, Darby the dog and Fiona the feline. They are definitely our 4-legged children, they keep us laughing and joyful everyday.
Like many of you, I am in the midst of planning a wedding, mine happens to be a same-sex “destination wedding” in Kansas City. The term destination wedding always makes me think of a tropical beach wedding – I guess we are getting part of that, the hot and sticky part. As we have gotten further into our wedding plans, I have been reminded of how much passion I have for planning events, and how momentous milestone celebrations are in our lives and communities. I am beyond thrilled that I get to incorporate my passion into my work.
I can’t wait to get to know you and work with you! What else would you like to know?

These Charlotte Olympia shoes have been making the rounds on the fashion blogger circuit – most especially the leaf-themed items – and the designer has certainly caught my eye! The punchy colors and leg-lengthening platforms evoke a starlet style from the 1930s/1940s come current. They are a perfect addition to bridal attire needing a fashionable shoe with a whimsical touch (my favorite).
The Leaf Me Alone shoes are so fabulous for an upscale destination soirée!
These Paloma heels come in a rainbow range of colors from emerald green to purple – and I adore the pleated detailing at the heel.
The pearl dangle at the ends of these berry velvet Maxine booties are such a fun added touch!
These ivory mesh and navy satin Pomeline ankle-strap heels showcase a sexy and fun black pom pom atop your toes.
Last but not least, a clear perspex clutch embedded with blush feathers has me swooning!
Would you wear Charlotte Olympia on your wedding day? If so, what is YOUR top pick?
